Self-discovery through the Way of the Horse
The Epona Approach

In this experiential workshop, gain insight and self-awareness while learning ways to deepen relationships. Through teaching and small group sharing as well as guided interaction with horses, participants will discover their inner strengths. In a safe and nurturing environment, learn the messages behind emotion and the importance of honoring feelings and intuition as a way to self- empowerment.

Participants will:

  • learn what horses have to teach us
  • discover the wisdom of the body
  • learn " the language of the breath"
  • explore the messages behind emotion
  • cultivate present moment awareness and relaxation
  • learn to set personal boundaries
  • gain insights to improve relationships
  • develop ways for centering and grounding
  • discover the power of authenticity

Both one and two-day workshops are offered and continuing education credits are available for LCSW's and LMFT's in California. The two-day workshop meets the prerequisite requirement for those who wish to pursue studies at Epona Equestrian Services and allows for deeper personal exploration and more time with the horses.

Relationships and Recovery

In recovery we admit our powerlessness over our addictions while taking responsibility for recovering for them. In learning to care more about ourselves and others the challenge is to discern those areas in which we truly have no control and the areas in which we need to be assertive, to make potent choices and to change. Whether single or in a committed relationship these lessons are essential for recovery.

In this group participants will:

  • identify individual strengths in recovery
  • learn to "sense and flow" with another
  • understand the messages and wisdom of emotion
  • learn how projection and transference influence relationship
  • practice compassionate presence
  • learn to set healthy boundaries
  • learn the language of the breath
  • deepen connections with Self and others

" God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
- Reinhold Niehbuhr

Navigating Life Transitions

Throughout our lives we are constantly in transition. We grow from child to teenager to adult; we get jobs and change jobs; we choose partners and have families of our own; we lose a parent or sibling or friend. Change and loss are constants. By honoring our sadness and grief we can navigate the transitions we inevitably face throughout our lifetimes, experience renewal and return to wholeness.

In this group you will:

  • learn the phases of change and what to expect in transition
  • learn to listen to your emotions and the wisdom they hold
  • develop a personal plan of self-care for your current transition
  • gain skills to master future changes with grace and equanimity
